Heating Service Definition:

Heating Services are the means used in a residence to control the temperature in a home or commercial building. It is often referred to as climate control. Types of Heating Systems:

There are two main types of heating systems. They are classified as central and local. Central heating is most often used in colder climates. Zone heating can improve the money savings even greater by using multiple thermostats to optimize the energy in only those areas that most need it at that time. Typical efficiencies for central heating are: 85-97% for gas fired heating; 80-89% for oil fired, and 45-60% for coal fired. Seemingly small changes can result in significant energy savings over the course of a season. Simple thermostat adjustments will decrease winter heating bills by as much as 15%. This small reduction in your household temperature can make a huge difference in home fuel use. The savings figures show that consumers can save 3% in total energy use for every 1 degree Fahrenheit they reduce their home’s temperature.

In the area of Mechanicsville referred to as "Old Mechanicsville" stands a stone windmill.  The windmill has been a fixture and a landmark in Mechanicsville since 1974.  Built in 1974, the windmill underwent a major renovation in 2007 - 2008, which restored its working status.
