54% of consumers have substituted Internet search in place of the phone book. Online marketing and local search advertising, is expected to grow from $4.1 billion in 2006 to $11.1 billion in 2011 (22.3 percent CAGR). Kelsey Group executive Matt Booth states that the growth will be boosted by small and medium sized businesses that currently advertise in the print editions of phone directories. This trend is evident from Nielson Reports online showing a whopping 5% increase in this local search in 2009.
